Paul George Racing presents an exciting opportunity to take a 25% share in the promising Kyllachy three-year-old Rathagan. A recent recruit to the yard, he is a well-related young sprinter who looks to be sitting on a very handy handicap mark.
The gelded Rathagan hails from a prolific and speedy family. His dam Ardessie has previously produced four winners, including the seven-time winner and one-time 91-rated Jebediah Shine and the triple winner Lucky Louie, who reached a peak rating of 78 last season.
Ardessia is a half-sister to the Listed winner Cathedral, who was also second in the Grp-3 (then) King George Stakes over five-furlongs at Glorious Goodwood. The stakes performers Legitimate and Joseph Henry also emerged from the same branch of the family, whilst the extended pedigree is littered with pattern winners.
Rathagan is clearly bred to be decent, therefore, and showed promise on more than one occasion in a handful of runs as a two-year-old and earlier this year for previous connections.
He was second in a five-furlong Nottingham maiden on his second racecourse start in October and took fourth in six-furlong handicaps at Southwell and Kempton on the AW either side of the New Year – with subsequent winners in behind him on both occasions.
Now Rathagan embarks on his career for Paul from a mark of just 57, which surely underestimates his true level of ability. He has been well backed on numerous occasions, which suggests that a large amount of latent talent is just waiting to be unlocked.
Rathagan has joined a yard at which he will get the care and attention required to fulfil his undoubted potential, and he is starting at the right end of the handicap. A winner in waiting with a big future, secure your share now!
